For a long time, I have depended on my 5610, and recently my head's been turned by some of the sexier models of G-Shock... principally the Mudman, and Rangeman.
I don't know what I'm being disloyal to my 5610. It's so discreet, I never know I'm wearing it. It never snags on my uniform, and it's been in the most horrendous places and doesn't have a scratch (probably because it's small enough to hide under my sleeve). It's unbelievably accurate, never needs a battery, and the illuminated display is simple and clear enough for my ageing eyes.
I like the look and functionality of the Rangeman, and the Mudman. But in all honesty, I wouldn't use a watch for navigation, I'd use a proper compass or handheld GPS. Altimeter might be handy every so often, at a pinch. Really, it's just that they look awesome, and they ring the bell of my inner teenager.
Has anyone used either of these as proper work watches, and how did they perform everyday? Were they easy to live with, or do they just snag on everything and annoy you?
