    Should I get a new GW-5000

I have a GW-5000 and I find the buttons so hard to push. I was at a place today and needed to use the timer for the parking meter because tickets are highly enforced. It was such a pain to set the timer with this hard buttons to push. I have read some people have the GW-5000 and the buttons are easy to push. Are these maybe newer models? Is there a way to determine when my watch was produced (I have had it a long time) and maybe newer ones have buttons easier to push? The batch number says: 201D312C (how do you decode the numbers, I know I have seen it somewhere before but can't find it). Is it maybe 312th day of 2013 = November 8, 2013

How are the buttons on yours?

    Thank you,
    Howard

I have an earlier model, still with original strap and bezel. Buttons give me no problems. I will say the buttons are recessed like a 5600E but I'm able to use them without difficulty. Haven't found them hard to push in when my fineger gets to the button. Might want to send it in for servicing to Casio Japan to see if there is something causing it?

Thank you, I have seen many people say something about the buttons being hard to press and that the GW-M5610 is much easier. I still want to keep the GW-5000 due to the screw back, steel construction, plain dial and DLC coating.

I like my 5000, but the button are hard to depress. I have a GW-M5610 that I wear also. A bit lighter, and buttons are much easier to depress.

I doubt there is anything wrong at all with your 5000. The buttons on these were meant to be pressed with fingernails, and if you do it that way, it's easy. I have one 5000 that's at least 3-4 years old, and a newer one about a year old. The buttons are just as easy to press on both of them.

Based on serial number mine is an early 2016. Buttons are easy for me. Maybe there are certain years or batches where a difference is noticeable?
It would be great if it could be tried out before purchase but that's unlikely for many of us. Unless you get one with a return policy.

    Re: Should I get a new GW-5000

The interesting this is that both the GW5000 and the GWM5610 use the same 3159 module but their button placements are slightly different. The GWM5610 are farther apart compared to the GW5000. The pivot point of the switch doesn't change on the module so that means you have a smaller lever on the GW5000 if the buttons are closer together. I'm sure that it's because of this offset that makes the GW5000 buttons more difficult to press. When I had a GW5000, I didn't notice the difference in button pressure. Maybe I just have harder fingernails.
