    Snagged an sgw100 today

    Hi,

Picked up this one today - the SGW100 , 35% off so I couldn't resist.

    Module number is 3157.

Watch has temp sensor and an electronic compass. Cool.

The lcd segments around the dial are where the electronic compass arrow indicates the direction of north. It's pretty accurate. You can also adjust for magnetic declination.

Nice big digits (not skinny either), time visible in the top row in ALL modes (world time, stopwatch, timer, alarm, compass), 200m, recessed mineral crystal. Pretty loud alarms and signal. And lightweight too. What's not to like?

Only minor quibble is 60minute stopwatch. But countdown timer is 24hr.

I got mine with a nice thick nylon strap - very comfortable and dries very quickly if it gets wet.

If you do any hiking or cycling outdoor trails it's handy to have a compass built into the watch.

I would not hesitate to recommend this watch.

Congrats! One of the bargains of the range in my opinion. I can't remember why I didn't get one....

Congratulations with this great watch! I own one too and took it with me during a four week camping/hiking trip. Very comfortable, light and easy to read and use.

I compared the compass a few times with my Silva Ranger 3 compass and it is quite accurate, good enough to get an impression of the directions. I also like it that you just have to push one button to get the compass and thermometer.

Thanks all. I'll be wearing the SGW100 today too.

Got the watch from SEARS Canada - this week 35% off sale on all Casio's - including G's. Today may be the last day of this sale.

If you do any kind of jogging/walking training do take a look at the SGW200 also.

I did a small review of that one here:

if they did, it would spoil the watch completely, because you would have

    - a much cluttered display
    - a smaller display (because of the solar ring)
    - price would increase at least twice the price now
    - you would have to worry about charging

the CR2025 lithium battery on this model will easily run 10+ years, so the point of having one with solar is, that there is no point. think about it.

    @ ghobbit,

congrats to your SGW-100. besides the too short el and too short stw, a really good digital watch. mine says hello :

    cheers
