The King is very large, but is no longer the largest G. Near as I can tell that honor goes to the GPW-1000 - due to its massive lug-to-lug length. (The GPW-1000 was not nicknamed "The BEAST" for nothing! ) The Mudmaster is no slouch either.

Below are the only comparison pics I have of the King. Here are some measurements.

Measured depth of case x width at widest point:

    Ranger: 18 x 53mm

    D1000: 18 x 51-52

    King: 17 x 53

    GPW-1000: 18 x 55

    Mudmaster (GWG-1000): 17-18 x 56

    * I did not measure L-to-L, but both the MM and GPW have greater L-to-L distance than the King. The GPW beats the MM in L-2-L distance by 3mm. (the only two I measured there)

Great effort T4P. Admire your patience! Gotta add the King is a lightweight - big but featherlight

Thanks DSD. Yeah, you're right! The King IS very light compared to some of the others. While I did not weigh them, again I think the GPW-1000 is the heavyweight of the bunch...although come to think of it the D1000 Frog might rival or even beat it for heavyweight title due to the SS-case.

Dammit, now I'm going to have to break out my scale!!

Re: So... how big is the "King"? GXW-56

I looked at this watch way back when I lived out in SoCal. I remember thinking to myself how big it was at that time, but liking the screws for the buckle.

I have the several frogman watches including the D1000 along with a couple GPW's. I can pull them off just fine with a 7.5" wrist.

Gosh, I wish I would have bought that king back then.

It's pretty big, my wrist is 7.25" and it's the biggest watch I would consider, but so light I almost forget it's there.

If you are on the fence, just do it!!!
