    Solar 5610 or solar 5600'?

    I have the G 9300, love it,but its a bit too chunk.
Im a plumber and find I have to remove it too frequently.

So I was considering going back to the 5600 or 5610...I may as weall get the solar/atomic.

But I can't decide on which?

I use the time 95% , so I really don't need the other functions much.

As well as moon phase ,and compass,on my current G shock.

I noticed the solar 5600 is a bit more expensive then the 5610?

    Any advice? Thanks, Jeff

    Solar 5610 or solar 5600'?

Do you mean GW-M5600 vs GW-M5610? The 5610 is a better module with a major update.

Quoting Sedi from a 4-year old thread:

    5610:
    Multiband 6
24 hr timer and stopwatch (current time not displayed)
4 alarms plus one snooze alarm

Those are the most obvious differences. There might be more concerning worldtime mode or maybe illumination duration - you have to check the manuals to make sure.
Both look exactly the same. There's no reason to get the GW-M5600 over the GW-M5610.

I was also confused why the solar only g5600e would cost higher than the solar atomic gwm5610. So when i saw a g5600e at $60 i grabbed it right away.

But the gwm5610 is already bang for the buck, i would have bought one myself but i saw a gw6900 for $65 so i grabbed that instead

If you are talking about this watch: G-5600E-1 - Watches - CASIO

    Or this watch: GW-M5610-1ER - G-SHOCK - Watch - Products - CASIO

The G-5600 is more expensive because it is discontinued. Unless you prefer the look or want the G-5600 for collecting purposes, I would just go with the newer GW-M5610.

Can everybody please use the entire model numbers to avoid confusion?

So far, in this thread and the other one, there are THREE watches being discussed, and it's partly Casio's fault for making the model numbers so close to each other.

    There's the solar-only G-5600E, which replaced the discontinued G-5600-1.

    There's the older, discontinued, solar/atomic Multiband 5 GW-M5600.

There's the newer, solar/atomic Multiband 6 GW-M5610 -- the differences between these models are explained in more detail in Maksim.7's post above, but the short version is "one's the old one, one's the new one that replaced it."

It's difficult to talk prices accurately since a) prices can and do vary quite a bit around the globe and b) prices on discontinued models don't always make sense. Here in the US, supply and demand during the holidays meant that the current solar/atomic "square" cost LESS on Amazon.com than the current solar-only "square." (Tonight, the solar/atomic is slightly higher ($88.75 USD) than the solar-only ($79.95 USD), which is more in line with Casio's suggested prices.)

Interesting. I thought both the G-5600-1 and G-5600E were discontinued. Is this not the case?

I honestly don't know about the G-5600E, and I can never figure out what has been discontinued from Casio.com's website, which doesn't seem to be updated very often.

I looked last night and they still show the 2-band GW-5600J on their "G-Shocks" page -- and we all know THAT one was discontinued a while ago! The fact that the G-5600E is NOT on that page doesn't mean much since they also still show the older, discontinued MTG-900 but not the newer Multiband 6 version.

Since 12 Amazon sellers still have the G-5600E for near or below the MSRP, I'm GUESSING there are still plenty of them out there even if it was discontinued.
