    Solar powered vs. Solar charged

Truly solar powered, not a solar charged battery as most are, this has no battery.

So how does this work then? Does it keep some charge for a while?

Does it use a capacitor, like the early Seiko Kinetics, and is (semantically) not actually using a battery, but still using something to store charge?

If so, that worked out so well for Seiko.

Capacitor has a 14 day reserve. I would have grabbed the HDDS-100 long ago but it has no light.

Kind of surprising they don't have the month on the screen as they are a perpetual calendar like most Casio. Mine had the correct date this morning transitioning from September to October, unlike all my fancy automatics, which I am advancing thru the 31st to correct the date to the 1st today.

I assume these have a capacitor in them which holds energy to run the module for some period of time during darkness.

This simple modules know calendar but no leap years.
    You cant set the year....
So the calendar doesnt expire, you just have to set the date every 4th year. :D
