    Some EL backlight queries

What was the first G to have one and what year was it? Does afterglow really count as some kind of function? I've never noticed it. What the heck is Dual Illuminator?

After glow is the light staying on for a few seconds after you take your finger off the button. Dual illuminator is 2 EL lights, typically one behind the actual display, and another around the outside of the display.

Dual illuminator sounds cool. Anyone have a shot of this in action? I've never seen it.

...which I never realized as a "feature" either until I got a Timex that didn't do it.

Dual Illumination is one EL panel behind the LCD and one behind the plastic surrounding the LCD, giving you this:

Nice! I like it. Mudman with the white plastic surrounding the display looks awesome!

First G-Shock with EL Backlight was the DW-6600. I am at work and have no reference right now, but I thought it was a fall 2004 release (can someone look that up for me?).

I love the EL backlight and the afterglow is a very good feature. I think you won't notice you need it, until you get a watch that does not have this feature.

    Cheers,
