some new pics of my marlin watches - the father and mother of the g-shock?

of course most of us have seen the marlin fish sometime ago. even me, though it came out sometime around my birthday in 1980.

many years i had a police poster on my wall, with sting wearing a watch that looked like the one i had as a kid. the look into a photobook by lynn goldsmith about the police cleared my mind. it wasnt the same watch that i had (f91w) but the a watch with a swordfish on it, 100m WR and with a screwback. wow. why doesnt casio make this kind of watches anymore i was asking myself? maybe because the steel screwback into resin is not the best solution for a watchs durability and WR, as i recently discussed with sjors in another thread...soon later the dw-5000 was released with screwback into steelcase.
but i had to have on, the little marlin logo is just very attractive, and the steel case watches seem to be of very high quality and durability. it gets harder and harder to find them in good condition as many people want to collect them. why is that so? i cant say, cause surely a new dw-5600e is a better deal for durability.
to cut a long story short, see yourself, here i post some pics i shot recently (the modelnames are within the filename of the pics).

Thanks for the post. Although I don't have any of those Marlins, I am a fan of that line, and as you mentioned, you just don't see them very often...especially good examples. I would have guessed that they made quite a few of these things, yet today, they aren't around anymore.

I would bet that lots were simply thrown away after digital watches became so out of fashion and many are probably still sitting in the bottom of drawers all over the world!

Looks like the DW-1500 is a very close relative. I have had this thing for almost 25 years. I took quite a beating when I first got it. Still looks good, and runs great.

Smile Re: some new pics of my marlin watches - the father and mother of the g-shock?

WOW! i never thought i would see one of those again a marlin(the one with the fish on the top of the display) was the first watch i ever owned, when i was about 9. thanx for the flash back!

thats super cool to learn about the module compatibility as well, one question though,

if you put the 106 module in say a dw-5600 would the new housing offer the protection it would a 691 or 901? or does it rattle around in the housing as its too thin??:thanks
