Suggestions for 1st G-Shock for 13 year old

I am thinking of buying my cousin (13 year old) his first G-Shock for X-mas. I have bought him Casios before, but I want to make the jump to a G. He is a smaller sized kid. I don't think I want to start him on a real expensive one yet, but I do want to choose one that he would think looks cool. Any suggestions guys? Preferably one that is easy to find also.

My first thought was the basic DW-5600E for under $50, but he might think that's too plain. I paid $70 for my basic Mudman, which he would probably think is much cooler, if it wouldn't be too big on his arm.

There are new Adult Swim DW-6900FSAS-1GJCU Metalocalypse Limited Editions that he might like for sale on ebay for right under $100. I bought one for myself and a Dethklok T-shirt to go with it. The guy I bought mine from has listed another.

Different age group, similar question from a few weeks back! https://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/g-s...ld-940868.html

There are probably still some good ideas in there along with the reasons people picked them, and most of the models mentioned aren't "oversized" models that would dwarf a "smaller sized" 13 year old's wrist.

When I was a kid around that age (back in the 80-90's), I really wanted a Casio badly ( I didn't know about Gshock etc back then.)
    Basically I wanted 3 things:
    A few functions going on all-at-once ( not just a boring day/date)
    Grey LCD is too boring!
Reasonably chunky looking ( not an issue for G-Shocks)
In the end I got one of those Digi-Graphs, which I loved and wore for years.

Unlike your nephew, I didn't have any 'cool' relatives to buy me one :P

I reckon if I was a kid nowadays, I would LOVE the GW9400
    I'd recommend G9000 or G9000MS

if you want to get him a watch that looks cool.. go for the DW6900.. can't go wrong with that. it's the most popular G-Shock for a reason. see what his favourite colour is and the 6900 will have that colour for sure. I think for someone who has just become a teen, this is the watch 2 get... the dw5600 are 2 square, plain and boring for a teen. while I like the G9000 mudman, us adults find the buttons really hard to press, so a kid would struggle with it even more.

here are just a few of them..

My 14yo boy bought his own DW-5600E last year to wear daily and bought himself a Swiss Army analog this year as a special occasions watch.

My 17yo has a blue Casio Phys STW-1000. It has a bunch of cool, fun modes to play with.

+1 on the DW-5600E. Size is probably right and price is great. Many Wal-Marts carry the 5600E. Cheers

DW5600. GW-M5610. And 5000-5600 really. They are small enough for a youngsters wrist, yet large enough he can keep wearing it forever. Cheap, thus easy to replace if something happens to it. Functional (multiple options depending on the 5600 model) and a true classic.

Get him a G-Shock with tough solar feature. Why? 'cause he has to be patience for the first few days, gotta get some sunlight for the watch so as to fully charge the watch. It just make him think a little bit. A little bit of planning and thinking is good for the kid. :D Juz a tot.

So I ended up ordering the DW9052-V. Good choice? I remember always wanting one of these when I was a kid, but have yet to add one to my current collection.
