two days ago my summer and holiday watch arrived. For summer I often buy something in yellow. Last summer it was the Christopher Ward Kingfisher Diver. This year it's the G-5500TS-9 - the 'TYO' edition with the special backlight image.
First of - some pix (shot from my balcony):
As you can see it's a really bright lemon yellow. Just perfect as a summer watch.
It's my first G-5500 - you kind of have to warm up to that particular design I think. What I really like is the very crisp display and the clean and uncluttered design. The writing on the glass is barely visible and contains only the basics: the four button functions, the battery and alarm, snooze, sig indicators. Except for that there's only the 'tough solar' and 'Casio' - nothing else. The solar panels look almost blck - the purple tint is only visible from certain angles. And the backlight image is really only visible when the backlight is turned on:
The module is pretty basic but at least they updated it over the original G-5500 module. So now it shows date and day of the week on the main screen and has a 24hr timer. Still no current time in other modes however - but for a holiday watch this really ain't such a big deal. I don't need the timer on the beach - maybe only to prevent sun burns .
That's it for now.
