Tearing my hair out - want a MIIW Riseman but too scared of fakes

    Hey guys,

been sulking for a while now as I really want to pull the trigger on a MIIW Riseman, but I'm too scared of getting ripped off. There are a few on ebay, but even though the pictures look real, I can't be sure if they'll send some other rubbish instead.

Anyone got any tips on how to land one of these babies? Birthday coming up soon too, wouldn't mind treating myself (like I needed an excuse anyway!).

Some of the ebay models I've been lurking over..

    Welcome.

I don't know any of those sellers. To feel at ease you really might want to get a rare one like this from a reputable seller. You could end up with a real one, but maybe in bad condition or missing certain packaging.

I recommend that you contact a Japanese dealer like Seiya-san. Use this contact form:

    http://www.seiyajapan.com/contact_us.cgis

Just tell him the exact model you want and he'll see if he can get it for you. He charges a percentage fee, but it's well worth it for the quality service and peace of mind. And since he's in Japan and knows where to get the best deals the total price might even be cheaper than the ones on ebay. Please don't waste his time though.

Excellent thanks, I'll send him a message! (I've come across his site before but he didn't have the watch

Renewed hope, will post some pics if I get one from him

I had the same fear looking for a black one, after about 2 months of looking around and drilling sellers for the straight truth, I finally settled on one from ebay, skynet_sg, from Singapore, high feedback score and gave me all the right answers, as well as the best price around for one, it is on the way, I expect it sometime next week, really excited!!
Experience is what you end up with when you didn't get what you wanted.

    hello and wlcome

ive had a quick look and they all seem ok to me and im on ebay all the time
to be extra sure here though you would be better off going with a powerseller
they dont sell loads for nothing
    id go with kong
he has a returns policy if you are not happy and has 1000's of feedback id say you are pretty safe buying from this guy

    with regards to ebay

always always check the feedback and look for neg comments check pictures and descriptions thoroughly and look for anything suspicious
always ask a few questions and see what type of answers you get if they seem suspicious bail the length of time a seller will get back to you doesnt mean anything as we are all from different countries

always go through ebay and always pay via paypal always

but imo the kong seller seems a safe bet

they all do but go with the biggest seller to be extra safe

I can recall a few examples of powersellers who sell nothing but fakes.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Re: Tearing my hair out - want a MIIW Riseman but too scared of fakes

Thanks for the replies guys, I emailed the kong seller after reading getmilk's post asking him if he guarantee's it's authenticity and if he'll refund if it's a fake.

    Still waiting on his reply.

I also emailed zf_no2 asking him the same, he replied this morning with:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ht_1844wt_1167

    Hi,
Thank you so much for your question.
    I deal 100% authentic only.
If you can probe that the item is not authentic,I shall refund X2, 600 USD.

    Best regards.

    - zf_no2

    I replied:

    Hi zf,

thanks for the quick reply. Can you send me a close up photo of the face of the actual watch, preferably with a bit of paper beside it with your name on it, like zf_no2.

    Sorry for the trouble!

    Regards,

    ----------------------------------

Hopefully the seller from Seiya can come through for me, I've done some reading and everyone seems to really trust him. If not, I may have to chance my arm with one of these ebay sellers.

zf_no2 responded to my request for a picture of the face:

    Hi,
Thank you so much for your question.
    But sorry,,,
Many persons have required more information of the item to me.
But all of them did not buy.
    The suspicions mislead the person.
If you can not trust me, I recommend you not to buy.
There are no Japanese scammer to my knowledge.
Most of Japanese people are serious and honesty.
And it is easy to get authentics of Japanese manufacturer.

    Best regards.

Looks like a dead end there..

Re: Tearing my hair out - want a MIIW Riseman but too scared of fakes

I think you might be asking too much of the seller. He looks like a volume seller who doesn't really have the time or the need to supply individual photos. As he says, he has done that before and the interested party has ended up not buying the watch after his extra effort. He has been courteous in replying twice, I think.
