Is there G-Shock with multiple countdown timers?

I am wondering if CASIO offers a G-Shock watch with multiple countdown timers? ie, several independent countdown timers?

My wife's new job at a chemistry lab requires her to prepare several samples of materials for different identification tests. Each sample goes into different processes. Some processes require timed reaction periods ranging from minutes to several hours before the next step in the procedure. It would be nice for her to have several countdown timers to track the remaining time until the next stage in the procedure for each sampel. She could do this with several different timers, but I wonder if CASIO has a watch with multiple countdown timers. Currently, we see the 5 multiple alarms on her Baby-G BG-148 as an option, but it requires some time-math, and that requires an extra step, and introduces the chance for a timing error-- which would not be so good in a laboratory!

Ideally, I suppose she should have separate individual timers at each processing station to avoid confusion for each sample identification. However, some processes she performs have drying times or settling times on the order of 18 hours! This is an overnight process, and it would be nice for her to have a good reminder on the end-time for the process on her wrist as an alarm reminded to get back to that processing station.

Thanks for your knowledge across the G-Shock product line!
    regards,
    James

It's funny jmathis, because I have a friend who works at a bio chemisty lab here in Denmark. And he has asked med exactly the same thing: "Is there a Casio with multiple countdown timers?". But I haven't found one. Sorry! Maybe some of the other guys at Watchuseek can help out?

Ha ha, a lot of chemisits here. I'm a Clinical Chemisist (a specialisation between biochemistry, Immunology, Hematology and specialized Analitical Chemistry) myself.

Coming back on the question, I also don't know any model with more than one timer I could use one. I sometimes wear two watches to time several experiments.

    Cheers,

    Thanks, Rasmus!

I have some good news on this effort for my wife.
She owns the Baby-G BG-148V-4v with module 2165:

    http://www.onsalewatches.com/prodImg...G148V_4V_M.JPG

    http://www.onsalewatches.com/casio_b...asio-bg148v-4v

    http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_man.../en/qw2165.pdf

I just looked at the module manual more closely today.

The 5 Multiple alarms on the BG-148 are VERY interesting. They are more featured than on my G-7000D (similar to G-2300). Best to read the module 2165 manual above for the complete description of the alarm features. Make sure you read the general TIMEKEEPING MODE features, as well, for the alarm features are very unique in the TIMEKEEPING MODE, also!

In short, on the multi-alarm setting you can assign a one character icon (ie, martini glass, automobile, $-symbol, etc.) to the alarm, or a one-letter A-Z character or a number 0-9 to each individual alarm. This one-character memo can be used to remind you of why the alarm is set. For my wife in the chemistry lab, this can be set to samples A, B, C, D, E or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or some other sample label. Very handy!

TIMEKEEPING MODE with Alarm Time Remaining!!
    This is really cool:
When the watch is in the regular TIMEKEEPING mode:

    1) One the day on which an alarm is set to go off:
    - the reminder icon is displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the screen
    - the time progression bar-graph shows a flashing bar at the alarm-set-time position
    - this information gives you anticipation notice that a scheduled alarm is set for that day and the hour in which the alarm is set to chime

    2) When the time gets to within 1 hour of an alarm-set-time:
    - the watch emits a tone to get your attention
    - the month and date fields get replaced by a COUNTDOWN TIMER showing the minutes and seconds left before the alarm-set-time is reached

So, even though the BG-148 doesn't have a standard countdown timer mode, the five alarm features are pretty cool with the reminder icon/label and the 1-hour countdown to alarm chime.

For those interested-- maybe your Bio Chem Lab Friend-- OnSaleWatches seems to be a place with different style BG-148 for sale:

And, here, but I'm not sure they have the BG-148 or if another model has the same features module 2165:

    http://www.juwelier-miller.de/casio/index.php

    http://www.schmiemann.de/index.php?list=WG1.05.01

The MSG-2010D with Tough Solar looks neat with a lot of features, too.
I'm not sure about all the features, as the description is in German. Particularly, the bottom two icons look unfamiliar to me: looks likes a schedule and a memo icon:

    http://www.schmiemann.de/index.php?c...MSG-2010D-2VER

Schmiemann seems a great site for a lot of Baby-G watches!
    Wow.

    James

    Hi James,

That's a great Baby-G model. I was considdering that model fro Eva, but I bought her another one (an Amy Amber, BG-156B). Schiemann is a very nice site to look for watches, but considdering the high international shiping costs it's not a cheap one...

As for the multi alarms, a light goes up for me... There are models with a shared memory and a schedual function. I have them on several G-Cool models. Maybe this is also found on other G-Shock models. I have this feature in the past used to warn me when to shut a valve down or when a experiment (or preparation) needs attention.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Wow.
Thanks for all your info and links jmathis. And you know what? I think that my wife has that exact Baby-G :-D. One feature I also love about this Baby-G is that is has weekly alarms. You can choose MON, TUE, WED etc., which is very convenient for remembering favorite weekly TV-shows.

I'll tell my bio chemistry friend about your ideas on using alarms with reminder icons. Maybe he'll want that watch for his experiments...

Re: Is there G-Shock with multiple countdown timers?

I think the Referee Timer watch DW56RT has two countdown timers:

    http://www.casio.com/products/Timepi...ock/DW56RT-1V/

    One timer has presets at 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 minutes.

The other time has user-defined time durations for an interval sequence up to 9 consecutive different time durations.

    http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_man.../en/qw2991.pdf

That's nice that a BG-148 is available to try out to see if it works for your friend.

I will try to report if my wife's BG-148 works for timing her work.
    regards,
    James
