Which two G Shocks would you purchase to start a collection?

I have recently started exploring g shocks after becoming the father of twins and needing to retire my other nice but not rugged watches. Now I can't decide which g shocks to go with-and there are so many options out there that I feel like I am never going to be able to narrow this down. I thought I would ask you all what two watches you would start a collectiOn with. I am thinking the king and a frogman but am also considering mud men and some of the analogue only or analOuge digital combos

These would be for everyday wear, standing up to spit up and other gifts from my infants, yard work, as well as whatever else the day will bring. I am well aware that any of the shocks will stand up to my lifestyle, so I am looking at any and all options.

So, what two shocks do yOu think would complement each other as the starting point of a collection...I only ask that they be relatively available (even if it taks eBay or the classifieds). Thanks

I would say one them would have to be a 5600, iconic, slimmer yet tough has they go, less bulgy to take care of the kids (congrats by the way)!
You could go analogic or ana-digi with the other...

I just bought my first one a G5500 and am now looking at a G7900.
One square and solar, one massive, round and tons of functions.

Either the 5600 or the 6900 are G-Shock staples. You could also get either version of the 7900, as it's quite popular around these parts and most important, an excellent model.

If you are thinking about a collection, as long as you get a 5600 or similar, the other one can be any model that strikes your fancy.
And I'm surprised nobody said Frog yet .

Just going to re-iterate and support some of the comments already made:

Go with a smaller, slimmer, everyday 5600. More functional, you can wear to work no matter what profession. Hides under your shirt sleeve.

And then go with a larger one. Something more rugged/can take a licking. Like a Frogger or a King.

If you're thinking of the King and Frog as everyday watches, then you're definitely wanting BIG. I wouldn't go with a 5600[x], as it would disappoint. The functionality is also VERY basic. With kids and all (congrats by the way!), you'll want big buttons so they're easy to get at.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about what 2 G-Shocks go together. Realize that you won't stop at 2 anyway. You may think you won't, but trust me... if you really like those watches, you'll be intrigued by other models and eventually expand your collection.

If I were you, I'd pick up a Mudman and a GW-4000 (or GW-3000). That way you have digital and analog examples, both big and bold.

Definitely consider the 9300 Mudman. One of the best G-shocks ever made
