Unpacking My New "US Navy Issue" DW-6600C

This is a G-Shock DW-6600C-1VZCI that was given to me by my cousin, who is a U.S. Navy diver. He was issued this watch from the supply room, but prefers to wear the first G-Shock they issued him. Its my first G-Shock and I "broke it in" while on vacation in FL last week.

    Nice packaging

    Looks good on the stand

Of course! Actually, bought dinner for him and his wife! They are going to be stationed in Norfolk in late October. Then he's off to Afghanistan to do some EOD work. Prob supporting a SEAL Team, he thinks.

When I first saw the photos of the Coast Guard wearing these 6600s, I ordered one immediately! It's like one of the foundations of a G-Shock collection - simple and supremely functional!

Thanks to your cousin! This is so cool that this G-Shock is "in the system" as they say in the military. I would never get rid of mine if I had one issued like that. Of course I feel so strongly about that because I did get rid of the old Vietnam-era field watch that I was given and only came to appreciate it decades later when it was too late!

    Excellent!

Good looking, simple and understated G-shock...all you actually need in this kind of watch.

Nice watch. I have a couple of questions:-

    1) What special functions do these watches have?

    2) What are the orange and green sections for? Are they just for show?

    3) What G's do the military tend to use?

    Thanks in advance.
