    Vintage DW-5600 691 H - Value ?

    Hi,

I have had a clearout of my watch drawer and come across a DW-5600 that i've had for years and years (20 ish I would guess).

The watch is fully working after all this time and all it requires is a new strap and casing (I understand the resin goes brittle with time). The crystal is a little scratched and the display inside looks to have splipped around a little.

I have a question, well two actually, for you G-Shock experts

    1) Roughly how much is the watch worth ?
    2) Where can I get a replacement strap and casing ?

    Any advice much appreciated.

It's worth between $500 to $1,200. If you replace the resin case and band with a brand new one it will be worth around $1,000 to $1,200.

The 691 fetches a bit more than the 901. The 691 is the module that came in the first 80's models and was replaced by the 901 in the early 90's so it's considered more collectible. The Japan H factory is the most common and least collectible factory, but the thing that will determine the value is the condition. The crystal and caseback foremost, and if you have any of the original packaging or papers that will also add to the value. I would replace the resin parts, the battery, and straighten out the module before selling it.

    Please post a pic.

There's absolutely no way that a 691 is worth $500, you're likely to get is $200 or less in excellent condition.

Well i'm really suprised ! I did'nt think it would be anywhere near that. I was going to throw it away !

I'll be honest and say it's not in the best of conditions and has been used as it should.

A new strap, case and battery would put it back to near new. Any ideas where I can get these from ? I'm in the UK by the way

Cynergy, I currently have my 5700 on ebay. It's the same era as your watch so we'll soon see what one of these antiques it's worth.

I've seen a DW5000 on Ebay only a few weeks ago and the bid was already up to $450 and there was still 3 or 4 days left before the auction ended. I don't know what the watch actually sold for, but I am pretty sure that it probably went for over $500 0r $600+ or more.

    He's talking about a DW-5600C [691] not a DW-5000 [240] there's a huge difference in price.

Here's some completed auction for an idea of price:
