    Watch Registration and Warranty

So I'm wondering if anyone would help me verify if Casio has stopped tacking on extra year(s) to watches when a person registers their watch? I registered an Edifice years back and I remember when I did so they gave me an extra year on my warranty. Recently, I tried to register some watches I purchased months back and found the date selector only went back to last month.

I called up Casio and the woman told me that the registration is for marketing purposes only and that Casio has stopped adding extra year(s) to the warranty upon registration. Anyone know if this is true or if the CS rep just wanted to get me off the phone? Thanks.

A few companies (not specifically watches) do this from time to time, and it is just marketing.

If it's not all over the website , then they don't do it (for now)

Not so... I registered two new G-Shock watches online today (GWA1000-1A & MTGM900DA-8). Both registration transactions returned the following text above specific confirmation details:

Perhaps it differs from country to country?

You'd think they'd shout it from somewhere on the website/in the product info

It could well be a geographical thing and Boomer registered your 'product' at a global site? where they wouldn't want to be telling 'everyone', cos it would some peoples noses out.

I registered both watches here: CASIO Product Registration

That "bonus" warranty year might well be based on geographical location, since it doesn't seem to relate to MSRP...

    Aha....

    Why Register?
    • Make it easier to resolve customer support calls.
    • Get the inside scoop on special offers / promotions.
    Extended Warranty on select models.

Not exactly shouting, but still it's there...

OMG I totally forgot to register the 8 Gshocks I got last June. And now, when I try to register it doesn't show June anymore.

    Anyone recommend what to do?

    Thanks!

I have never registered a watch. It never occurred to me. Well, they never break anyway...
