Blunt, but probably not too far from the truth.

Trying to make me feel bad for the MTG1000 I just ordered, Buzz?

MTG does feature a more complicated construction. And the styling on the MTG is nicer.

The MTG line is marketed by Casio as being "superior" to the GIEZ line, and the pricing certainly reflects this. That being said, the pricing of the 2 lines does come very close, and may even overlap if you find really, really good deals for an MTG.

Probably the closest the 2 lines have come to one another are in the GS1000 (or GS1100) and MTG1000 models. They both do have the 5-motor technology inside, but have minor cosmetic differences (like position of date, for example).

    Screwback beats all. FACE!!!

I honestly love both of these lines. They are what got me to truly take a second look at G-Shocks. My first G didn't grow on me and was short lived. This Giez is here to stay.

I love the Giez but I am a bit sceptical about the crystal protection due to the more exposed design of the bezel.

I wanted to get the GS-1001BD which feature black IP band but it was out of my budget, partly due to the freaking high exchange rate. 1000Yen is around RM38 compared to RM32 a few months ago.

I picked up my GS1001 during a trip to Korea earlier this year, and I wish I had waited longer for a better exchange rate!

I'm pretty good at taking massive whacks at the crystals of my watches. So far it appears the Giez is well protected as I haven't scuffed it yet in 6 months time. The one I really scratched the bejezus out of was a Seiko SKX009. I scuffed up a Sumo crystal too, but it seemed to be much tougher than the 009.

Naw, I work with tools a lot and sometimes vehicle dash support braces become involved. I have taken a couple of chunks out of the resin part of the case. It adds a nice well worn look and the crystal still looks pristine.
