What does this 'asterisk' means in G7900 and other Gs too?

    Hi,

I just bought a G7900 but when I've pressed on the modes around, I do noticed that there's an 'asterisk' sign ( * ) on the 'date column' there as in the picture I attached (pardon me the picture is not original from the watch itself). When it blinks, I pressed on the change mode and the 'asterisk' is either bigger or smaller, 2 modes. Wonder what does that means in GShock?

Besides the G7900, I do saw it too before in other Gs.
    Any idea?

    Thank you.

Another thing is do the Moon and Tide need to be adjusted if I've keyed in the UTC and had keyed in the correct time and date?
    Thank you.

It indicates illumination duration. Small asterisk is 3 sec - big one is 5.
Moon needs no adjustment except date but tide needs position data and tide intervall, there's a list at the end of the manual with different data for different coast towns.

Thank you Sedi. That helps. I tried it too on DW5600 and I feels that the DW-5600 illumination duration is the same though.

Well, now I know what's the asterisk in GShock meant. Hehe...

On the DW-5600 it's the display flasher which flashes the illumination with alarms or the timer end-beeper. So it symbolizes different things on different models. On other's it's displayed when the auto-EL is engaged.

Yes. Thank you for a well explained answers. I got what you meant and that gives me the idea of what the asterisk is on different models would be.
You indeed knew lots about Casio G-Shock watches... Great!

O ya, here as attached is the asterisk on the G-7900. Great watch.
