    What was the first G-Shock?

G-Shock virgin here. Thinking about ordering my first G-Shock and was curios as to what model was the first G-Shock put out by Casio and in what year? I've been hitting this forum quite a bit the last few days. G-Shock obviously has a cult following. I think my first one will be the Riseman. Anyway, any info. / pics on the first G would be appreciated. :thanks

I have another question, how many are there (all colors and modules), 60 Mio. in total but models? Over 800 I think, anybody knows? How many different modules would be interesting, too...

This article may be of interest too.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

One of the first G-Shocks purchased new, by me, in Tokyo in 1983 - the DW-5000:

Still looking young and new...fantastic, wondering did you actually wear it in these 26 years?

Nice. What current day model carries this lineage?

This is what it looked like a couple of years ago:

The band and parts of the bezel just disintegrated with use/abuse

So, I put on a new bezel and a new band and it looks good as new

I still wear it regularly - and have done so for all these 26 years
