The GW-5000 was my grail watch for many years. Now that I've gotten one, I'm a bit lost. I don't think I have a G-Shock grail at this point.

Maybe one of the screwback reissues like the DW-5000SP "Project Team Tough" or the DW-5000-1JF.

Very possibly the DW-5700 screwback "BEAMS" reissue, but I'd be afraid to wear it.

NOS, un-worn, un-sized MRG Frogman. Only problem is I would never want to wear it. So it remains a grail. Impossible to find in NOS condition, crazy expensive if you do find it in NOS condition, and something that you don't even want to wear for fear of scratching it. Totally impractical, but I still want it.

Would you agree that at that point the watch is no longer a watch but a work of art? Which by the way would be most acceptable.

Re: What is your G-Shock Grail

I think I will definitely be in the minority with my answers:
Out of the G-Shock's that exist, I think that my current grail is the positive-display PRW-3000YT-5. And just for fun, out of the G-Shock's I hope CASIO makes one day, my grail would be a GW-4500 -- an ana-digi version of the GW-4000 (kind of like the GW-3500 and the GW-2500 are the respective ana-digi versions of the GW-3000 and GW-2000). The key request that I have for this hypothetical GW-4500 is that the digital displays have an EL or an LED feature.

EDIT: I forgot to say, I would love for the GW-4500 to have a seconds' hand perfectly synched to the digital time (unlike the poor GW-3500 and GW-2500 with their amputated seconds' hands).

I think grail should be something special, unreachable, hard to get.

For me the grail used to be (still is a bit) the DW-5000c, but that was before I got my first 5600c. Now I know how vintage screwback square looks in person and feels on the wrist and that feeling of 5000c being something ''special'' is gone a bit.

I still want it, but it would probably go from grail to box queen, the best watch in watchbox for me personally.

Since Alexs12 presumes to imagine, so shall I. I wish Casio would make an atomic solar, all black with no visible writing on it anywhere. Twenty-four hour stopwatch and countdown timer, with large digits of current time visible in both modes. Vibration/flashing alarm (so, a huge solar battery with a tiny but readable power status indicator). Positive display. Light that illuminates all digits clearly for 1, 2 or 3 seconds, as selected. Not necessary are world time, thermometer, anything to do with barometric pressure, compass, moon phase, (in)audible alarms or tide tables. Oh, yes - the manual should be only in the language(s) of the country where it is sold, of a size readable by normal humans.
