Where's The Love For The 60-Minute Countdown Timer?

I'm not sure how many G-Shock models have a 60-minute CDT, but mine has one and I'm not thrilled with it.

I guess I don't understand Casio's reasoning. They can add tons of other features, but limit the timer to such a small number. A 24-hour timer couldn't have been that difficult.

It's even harder to imagine the engineering and marketing people sitting down and agreeing that a 60-minute timer would be a good selling feature.

I guess there must be a reason for the short amount of time, but I can't imagine what it is. any thoughts?

Casio might want to avoid producing the perfect module.
So every digital watch addict has to buy several to get all the features on board.

I'd guess it's a memory trade-off of some sort. That and an application of the 80/20 rule.

I agree that 60 minutes isn't enough (although 24 hours is on the high side for what I'd use).

    I'd settle for a 6 hr. CDT.

    :

also doubt its clever to make a 10 seconds alarm in a tough solar watch...so it really might be a memory trade-off thing. hard to imagine, when you see other cheap casios having a 24 hrs timer and more....

Where's the love? No love from me that's for sure.

Other than needing to ditch the 1/10th sec to free up the digits there's no technical reason that I can see why it couldn't be 24 hours.

The 3063 module has a 1000 hour stopwatch - 1000 hours!!! But only 60 min CDT

I tought that had to be a typo and you were saying 100 hours. So I checked the manual and, yep, 1000 hours! To .01 sec resolution, no less. Insane.

You make a good point about the 1/10 sec on the CDT display.

    Casio - are you listening??

i think that's how they keep us hooked

but GW9200 Riseman comes very close to being perfect

certainly no love for the 60 min CDT from me either - still better than no CDT at all (MTG-9xx series ).

there are a few things casio really should fix, besides short countdown timers:

    - el backlight is too short with 1.5 seconds, it should last 3 or 5 seconds (perfectly done with the non-atomic mudman series)

    - backlight should also work when other buttons are pushed

    - alarms should go on for at least 20 seconds, more is preferable

    - all watches should be able to set the alarms for a specific date

    - compass on ABC watches shouldn't stop working when el-backlight is used

those are the shortcomings which come to my mind right now, if you know others, please add them.

I don't require 60 min. Just 6 min for pasta. 5 min for steak and 4 min for pancakes.

2 mins for a pot noodle, that's what I use the cdt for!
    Real men don't need instructions.
