Confused Why can we buy pink G5500, but no standard black DW5500?

Just curious, why is there no standard DW5500 with red button for afforable 100 $, like most of g-shocks?

I heard so much good things about 5500 series, but I can't actually try one, except for this, pink one, which isn't exactly my taste.

    Any reasonable explanation, anyone knows?

although not produced anymore, you can probably find a dw-5500c, not sure how much they are today.

The G-Shock II model is extremely rare and basically no working copy exists today, even if you find one that look new as soon as you start operating it the resin around the buttons will crumble fast. Despite that, this model when looking new will cost several thousand dollars amongst crazy Japanese collectors.

When the 5500 series where first revived in 2006 as a tribute to the original G-Shock II, in the form of the solar model G-5500-1JF (black with red buttons) it retailed for around $180. It was discontinued in September of 2006 and is very difficult to find these days. The only one new in box I could find was this:

    G-SHOCK G-5500-1JF

If no other bidds it costs currently 15000JPY which is about $192 but you have to use a proxy bidder/shipping service like FromJapan ( http://www.fromjapan.co.jp/ highly recommended by me and many others ) to get it so it will probably end up around $230-$240 or so.

I quite like the grey G-5500TS and it should still be easy to find.

I also can't understand that. There are some iconic models that should never be out of production line.

the 5500 is such a weird series to me. Wasn't one of the original mudmans in a 5500 case?

The DW-5500C was the original Mudman but it was not officially advertised as "Mudman".
