Rolling eyes Why is the Frogman so expensive?

Is it the ISO rating? Is the case something special? Or has the module some special feature that other Gs don't have ? What draw's me to it is the asymmetrical case, I don't have anything that looks close to that, and I think it looks very good for a G. But it's basically twice as expensive as other Gs . Am I missing something here?

I want something to replace my Mudman, that is a great sports watch, and perfect for when the rough gets tough, but after wearing it for an extended period I got fed up with the rigid buttons. Yeah, I know I can soften them some by boiling, but they're rigid for a reason, so I rather buy something else. My wife is set on getting me an orange Riseman next Father's Day "to make a pair with her red Baby-G" - I ain't arguing !!! I know the Riseman will probably be enough for all my when-rough-gets-tough needs, but I find the looks of the asymmetric Frogman too cool, and when is one G enough?

But why does the Frogman has to be so expensive ?
    Cheers!

Re: Why is the Frogman so expensive?

I always thought a frog is too expensive until I owned one..
In my opinion, it is worth 200-300$ max and that is for the 200 solar series.. Which is why I only own two, they are hard to get at that price for a brand new one.
The construction of the watch is really good, and they are hard to find..

See this thread in the FAQ section.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Everyone says that you won't know until you own one but no one can really say what exactly makes it so much more expensive than your run of the mill G. I figure if I have to ask because I can't tell by any specs or even the looks, (which I have done many times) it's not for me. Casios are collector items for many and collectors are willing to pay whatever Casio says for the reasons Casio states. Casio knows this quite well. They are a smart company.

Re: Why is the Frogman so expensive?

It is expensive because Casio decided to produce smaller quantities and hike up the price. They could just as easily have gone the other way, producing many of them and charging less, in which case it would be probably $140 for solar and $200 for atomic. Maybe they thought there wouldn't be enough demand to justify producing so many. To the average person, a Frogman is probably too big and bulky, and not everyone can appreciate the asymmetrical design.

No doubt the Frogman costs more to manufacture, and I also have no doubt that the "margin" is equal or more. In the Middle East you can pick up the non "Atomic" one`s at very reasonable pricing, so maybe it`s not so much Casio rather venders wont deep discount as they want to take advantage of the demand, I never paid more then $220 for A GW-200 series when I was in Qatar. Fast forward to Malaysia and you will be seeing around $450 on the price tag, for the same watch
