The databanks were calculators - just not G's - probably impractical with that many buttons to G'ify one.

It won't pass the basic hammer test.

It could be done with a touch sensitive screen where you draw the numbers on the screen with your finger. That would be really cool.

Casio made some touch screen calculator watches in the 80's. There was the TC-600 for example. Really nice double layer touch sensitive LCD that actually worked quite well. It was definitely not G-shock tough though. It was more of a dressy digital watch.

These days you could do that with a capacitive screen, and there's no reason at all why it couldn't be made to comply with water resistance and shock resistance specifications. But that would require significant development on Casio's part, and at the end of the day, it doesn't seem like there would be a huge market for such a thing.

Apple and Samsung actually make those watches.

Casio could make some amazing watches if they got their stuff together. All they do is keep making slightly different modules with new casings. Their profits must be great. Hardly any R&R. How about a square with altimeter, or like you guys said, a G-Shock with capacitative screen that could do all sorts of amazing things. If the bezel was tall enough around it to protect it, it could be a G-Shock too. I guess the new Bluetooth watches are a step in the right direction. Hopefully they keep building from there...

For a square upgrade, all I'd like is a louder, adjustable alarm for the GW-5000 and adjustable light settings. A sapphire crystal upgrade with internal AR coating to top it off. Then it'd be absolutely perfect.
