I've read through all the threads and it seems like you're one of the few that did the update on the Bluetooth models. I could not find clear answers to my question though, maybe you could help me out?

How do you see whether the module is the updated version or not?
And what is the exact way to get it updated? Should I go to an official Casio dealer and simply ask him to do it?
Does Casio update it free of charge (I'd be surprised)?
And since I bought it used just like you, do I need the original receipt?

    Thanks in advance!
I really wish @rcaddict; would shed some light on this... My GB-5600B should arrive today

The 5600AA or 5600AB is totally different from 5600B,i only have 1 5600AA so I can't comment on whats the difference compared to AB.My AA is with updated module and pairs with android 5.
When casio listed the watches are eligible for module upgrade,it was when android 5 was the latest version, and yes I had to send to my local casio service center for the free upgrade,no receipts needed. The only way to know whether its upgraded or not, you'll need to pair it with android 5.I haven't had time to open up the watches and compare the modules yet,I'll do so when i have the time. Upgrading the module is no longer important as the none upgraded ones work well with android 6,7 and 8,as recently reported in this thread.
And if you plan to use bluewatcher app,you need to uninstall casio g shock app ,otherwise it cause constant disconnection. Enjoy the watch guys,it's an excellent watch and i still wear it often, not so for my rangeman gulfmaster or the other Gs.

Not sure why having connection to phone would make it less of a timepiece? Without connection to phone it's still a reliable G shock. And even if it can't connect for future version of android, the watch's timekeeping function goes on.

    Very informative post, thank you!

Okay, so it doesn't make any sense to upgrade it since I'm on Android 8 anyway. Good to know.

And thanks for the hint regarding Bluewatcher! Right now, I have both installed (Bluewatcher and G-Shock+) and when I'm connected via Bluewatcher, the app force closes several times a day. Pretty annoying. The G-Shock+ app seems quite stable, but has less features regarding notifications.

I'll try to uninstall G-Shock+ and see whether the problem persists.

Regarding the module version, I can see some informations in the test mode of the watch (pressing adjust+mode+search simultaneously): "1402" in the upper right and "3419-5" in the lower main display. Maybe that's it?

You may need to reinstall Bluewatcher too and delete watch pairing and pair them again.
As for the adj+mode+search , it didn't crossed my mind to compare those info, I'll check after work tonight :)

Thanks a lot for this pic!

So both our GB-5600B-1's share the same module 3419-5 which is the older one. 3419-7 seems to be the updated module.

    Mystery solved, I guess! :)

Btw, what model is the second from the right? Must be a Kevin Lyons with replaced band and bezel, or am I mistaken? Looks awesome, I really dig this black/white color scheme! (reminds me of my GLS-5600CL-1 which I briefly had)

Yup Kevin Lyon with black bnb. More suitable for office attire.

Very nice. I thought about turning mine navy blue. It looks like the standard DW-5600 bezel would fit the GB-5600, right? The bezel looks identical to my DW-5600 and not like e.g. the one on the GW-M5610.
