My 2c: they only work with specific Android devices and will barely work at all with others (takes forever to pair and then does not automatically reconnect to my Sony Xperia ZR on Android 4.4). I've got the GB-5600B and while it's a nice square the Bluetooth is totally useless to me so is turned off. Shame that the Casio app doesn't fully integrate into the Bluetooth stack, I think if the app was better written this could be a useful tool. I do a lot of cycling and was thinking that wrist-based notification of text messages would save me having to check the phone in my back pocket, but it was not to be.

Hi Joey, have you send your watch back to Casio for the module update? Mine works with Samsung note2 on 4.4 and s6 on 5.0 which are not in the supported phone list.

I haven't, is that an option? I thought as it was v2 hardware it didn't need updating.

I looked at the bluetooth casios myself but they just did not offer enough features like reading a text.

Got a pebble instead which is one of the more resilient smart watches but hardly gshock grade.

Joey, you can contact your local Casio first, from the xda forum a few members from Europe or usa have sent theirs back to Casio and watches are working fine now.

Trott3r, I would think Casio's targeted audience are those who just want a G with some smart function, with the small screen i think even if the G can scroll thru the all the messages, it would be a pain to read them.

rcaddict: it could be implemented as a separate view like a stopwatch is on a gshock.
The pebble is not that big and does texts quite well.
It is seen as one of the most basic smart watch functions.

My thought is GB series is still marketted more as a G than a smart watch. Afterall, battery can last for years on a cheap cr2032 battery.

Hi Fer, which square did you try and why do you feel it's a fail?

I can't remember the exact model, I believe it was their first square with Bluetooth.
