Ok that explains, the first GB or the AA / AB series is slow in connection and disconnection.lacks music control, as mentioned earlier, i wouldn't recommend First gen GB unless you like the looks and don't care bout the bt functions.

I recently found my Bluetooth version used in a nearby mall store. It was $80. There was also a Tough Solar for $70. So, I just bought both for the fun of it. Not into smartphones, but I did love the metal retainer so I bought it!!!

Re: Why the lack of interest on GB-5600B/6900B/X6900B Bluetooth series?

Wonder how I missed this thread when it started 2 weeks ago, some pretty interesting comments here. I have to agree with RCaddict, that these 5600 and 6900 Bluetooth variants are much overlooked. Yes, if you compare with smart watches, the Bluetooth functionality is lacking. But like mentioned before here, you can turn off the Bluetooth connectivity and use them just as regular G-shock watches. In fact, they got some better features than their non-Bluetooth counterparts, such as 1000h stopwatch and 100h timer settable to 1s increments. For a smart watch, if you turn off Bluetooth, I bet you lose 50% of its capabilities due to some features may be unusable without the connectivity.

Casio's also smart to make the 1st gen GB5600AA looked like the classic DW5000, and the 2nd gen GB5600B looked like the GW5000. The front designs of these two pairs are virtually the same, besides the Bluetooth logo. Some collectors may like them because of the similarity. Check out this older thread to see more pictures: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/gb-...c-1010374.html

The Bluetooth 6900's however, they look quite different from the regular 6900's by not having the "3 eyes". So I guess that explain their popularity being even lower than the Bluetooth 5600's.

Do you adjust the contrast on the watch or by using the App? Just wonder.

Casio stated that only Samsung S4,S5 and Note 3 are supported up to Android 4.4. If you're already in Android 5,then you'll need to send back to Casio for module update. The updated module works with many unlisted Android phones on Casio sites. By the way'I wouldn't recommend the first gen A* series due to the limitation I've mentioned earlier, unless you really like the looks and use it as a normal G.
Is that just a firmware upgrade or they actually need to replace the watch module? Do you know? If it's just firmware, I can see that they could just provide the firmware for download, then use an app to upload it into the watch. That way it's more convenient to the user. Also wonder, how much do you need to pay for the Bluewatcher app? Does it provide enough additional features to worth the money?

so I don't want to own a handcuff, I don't want to collect something that has no character value to me, I don't want to buy a bluetooth gshock nor any smart watch out there ...
I think what you meant is the difference between burnware and firmware. A firmware can be erased and updated, i.e. "no soul" like you said. A burnware is there forever in the chip, or at least only changeable through some proprietary interface. By your concept, then a PC would have no soul either, since you can erase both the OS and the firmware! I don't know man, I think they are all just devices / machines, regardless of their architecture.

As they say, the more complex a computer / machine gets, the more unpredictable for its behavior. It is the unpredictability that creates the individuality, since no two machines will act the same in the same situation. Our brains are very complex and don't just use binary logics, that's why we're unpredictable individuals. But computers these days are still pretty primitive in comparison to our brains. Especially if you're just talking about a digital watch, which runs very simple logics, pretty much every watch of the same model works 99.9% the same.

Watch_geek2014, i guess because we are both geeks that's why we love these bt watches lol.
Anyway to answer your question, the contrast is adjustable via the watch itself, you need to press adj+start stop+mode buttons simultaneously to go into setting mode, then press start stop until you see CONT1 or CONT2,then press spoke split reset button to toggle between these 2 contrast.
Casio need to replace the whole module for the update.

Another reason to love these GB series especially the GB-X.
The beautiful transparent that shows the indicators such as alarm snooze etc.

Yeah very funny, but there are older guys like me who have lost most of their hearing, either from military or other reasons and have a very limited choice of G-Shock watches because they simply can't hear the beeping on the watch. I am about to pull the trigger on a GB5600B 1JF. This model had Vibra alarm and is Bluetoothed. I own an iPhone 5s which I out of curiosity I will attempt linking. I will see how it goes. If I'm not happy with it for whatever reason, I will turn it off. The main reasons for liking this model are:

    • Vibra alarm
    • Square shape and not massive
    • Easy to read - (not full of dials, readouts and eye candy)
    • long battery life
    • No solar power
    • No atomic signal? (Don't receive it here anyway)
    • It's a g Shock, so it's reliable and tough

I'll let you know as usual...
