    Why not 00

I'm pretty sure every Casio digital I have shows midnight as 0:00 and 1-9AM with no zeros in the hours. The proper way (or at least what I'm accustomed to) is to have a leading zero. Any thoughts? Mine is it's hard enough to squeeze the 2 in there 2hrs a day and a zero would look even more cramped.

hi nate. i've gotta say i'm not with you on this one. the only context i might - might - expect the leading zero would be using 24 hour time. my guess is the leading zero may be an artifact from older styles of large-format, red lettered or mechanical desktop or wall clocks.

I'm not saying clocks or watches ever use(d) it just that it is the proper more clear way of writing time. In the military we did it that way all the time. The ":" doesn't really belong in there either and I'm sure it could be removed when switching to the 24hr mode.

What is does is offer positive confirmation that you really mean 0100ET and didn't forget the 1 and mean 1100ET for some reason. It's much more accurate and provides less room for error in written communications.

I'm not really enraged just would prefer it the "proper" way that's all.

By not displaying that extra 0, it means the battery lasts that little bit longer.

You're joking, right? By that logic not displaying anything would have the battery last forever and selling an empty case would be valid. Also if power savings was the goal then the solar versions could have the leading zeros.

Anyone know of any Casio models that actually have the leading zero?

I suspect it would be a vintage model. Checked my W-50U and it doesn't have it.
