Would an Atomic module sync if it were removed from case?

Has anyone ever removed the module from their Atomic G-shock and left it out of the case? Did it sync while exposed? I'm trying to figure out if the case of the watch doubles as an antenna.

    Any ideas?

the antenna is part of the module, if you ask me, no case needed, but I don't know it for sure...

on this picture the antenna is on the top

This is interesting because I wanted to put the module from my GW5600J into the Spike Lee case. I've been wondering if this is possible.

I don't think that would work Dantana...
I believe the case backs are different on each watch (Spike Lee/screwback?)
and there is no Solar Panel on the Spike Lee DW. (is the solar panel on the module or stuck behind the crystal?)

If the module receives a signal without the case, then this means that there is a good possibility of being able to swap modules from two watches of the same model (same model, with the exception of the atomic feature) without losing the atomic feature in the exchange...

Yeah, actually I think you're right. I believe the solar cells are on the module, but you would have to change the crystal on the case too, because the brickface design on the SL crystal would block light. It would be cool if this were possible though. That would be my ultimate G! I saw on another thread that Casio is coming out with a Screwback 5600 that is Atomic and solar, but it costs around $400. What is it made out of? 24K Gold?????
