Would you wear a G-Shock to a formal occasion? If so, which one? I'm mainly curious. Thanks for sharing!

Although I enjoy G's, I'd say never. It's just not what they are for. Surely there are people who do it, but it looks just as bad as those who wear running shoes with business attire IMO.

The previous responses to this post is affirms my general impression. But, I thought perhaps Casio had created a formal limited edition version of the G-Shock to permit it. Is there one?

I'd wear any of the watches I have (see signature below).

edit: with the exception of the SKX007...
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Re: Would you wear a G-Shock to a formal occasion? If so, which one?

This topic -- and related topics (G-Shocks with business attire, G-Shocks in the office, etc.) -- pops up regularly. I've been known to wear a G-Shock with a suit and a gold dress watch with jeans -- so I'm a bit of a contrarian.

There are also different kinds of "formal" wear -- some stylistic approaches, even with tuxedos, etc., are more funky than others.

I think "fashion rules" are made to be broken. Indeed, it is interesting how some styles or color combinations can be considered "gauche" for years and, suddenly, they're the height of fashion.

If you think something looks or feels good with formal attire, then wear it! If you don't think it looks good, then don't!

I wouldn't personally. I have watches that go with that type of clothing much better. But if I had to, I'd probably rock my 5600.

is it because it's a diver? I don't wear divers with my suits. Just wondering if it's the same for you

edit: nevermind. I noticed the Tissot on the far edge and the blackwater.

Re: Would you wear a G-Shock to a formal occasion? If so, which one?

Of course I would. Out of my collection the G-700/701D (ana-digi) and the GW-2000 (analog) probably match a suit best and a non-wis would never know they are g-shock's unless you tell. But I would absolutely have no problem, to wear any other of my G's to a suit with exception of my olive-green G-7900 maybe. On the other hand, it is not that I wouldn't have enough watches and therefore alternatives of other brands. My two favorites are either a Seiko SNZG15 or a KHS Platoon. Both look pretty dressy without being conservative.
