Think that you are fine. Here is my AWG101-1A on my 7" wrist.

AWG100 on my small wrist that looks even smaller when it's a macro shot. This watch is actually pretty compact for a G and doesn't look oversized on my 6.25" wrist.

    Hi CASD

The hands are only lumed on the very tips, and it does not last very long. It is pretty easy to read the hands when you press the button for the light, though it does not light up the digital windows.

The nine hour indices and the tip of the two analogs hands all have lume, though they don't glow strongly for very long. Happily, the light on the watch does a great job of illuminating the hands so it's easy to see the time in the dark. (Said light is useless for the digital portions of the watch, however.)

If being able to see day & date at the same time is important to you, I'd encourage you to think about a GW-2500. The AWG100 has the classy, blingy details to it (applied indices, raised silver rings around digital displays and applied "G-SHOCK" on dial), but the GW-2500 has the better functionality through the ability to display more information at once, better stopwatch, and more alarms.
