Question For you fans of the Tour De France....

There are no doubt many Tour fans among the members here. I've often wondered what it would be like to ride in the Tour. ...IF you were a rider in the Tour, which G would you wear?? Strangely enough, I've never even really looked for Gs among the riders. I tend to think most of them don't wear a watch -- but I would if in the race! LOL

If it were me, I'd probably wear one of these two, or perhaps alternate between the two throughout the race! (the Ranger for the mountain stages, for sure!)

What would you wear, and why?

    1) The GW-5000, for its slim profile, light weight, and comfort, plus good functionality and solar power.

    2) The Rangeman, for its baro graph and altimeter, its one-touch 1,000 hr stopwatch, and its time and data record feature. (and also for the cool colors available in the Rangeman, which would no doubt match some of the uniforms worn in the race!)

    Hi Time4PlayNow

Been watching/following the Tour for decades & love it. ( Giro too as well as spring classics)
I use to race bikes & do triathlon so was always amazed by their avg speeds...They are on another level for sure especially on the climbs

Nice idea for a thread & I agree G-Shocks would compliment the jerseys etc but the truth is we never wear watches especially for racing.
But also in training mainly because they are not useful

Wireless Cycle computers give time, average speed, speed, distance, heart rate, cadence/RPM & much more. So having a small unit right center
on the handlebars is more useful not to mention wrist pressure due to angle while riding in the drop bars would not be comfortable with a wrist watch.

Lastly when we trained 6-8 hours a day in the saddle our tan lines were bad enough from socks, shorts & jerseys...heheheh

Yeah, okay, I get it. I know that bike computers can provide the riders with all the info they need. And I understand why racers might not wear watches. BUT -- that's a good way to kill this thread.

SO --- just as when people are watching certain movies or reading certain novels, you should "suspend your disbelief" for a moment and ask yourself, if bike computers were not available, and you WERE going to wear a G during the Tour, what would you wear?

For all of you other, non-racers out there (like me), which G would you pick to wear during the Tour?

Like DSD, I agree that it would be best if the G matched the team colors! But fortunately as G lovers, we know they are available in a wide variety of colors -- probably to match just about any team colors.

Too bad I sold my yellow Rangeman - that would have been a good one -- especially as I ride with the yellow jersey all the way to Paris!! But for now, I'll stick with my green Jelly Ranger!! I guess that would mean I'd have to become a fantastic sprint rider and win the green jersey!!
