Zaku II (GD-100MS-3) arrives; best MS ever?

just came in the mail an hour ago; i got tired of everyone saying how awesome this model is, finally broke down and grabbed it. this has to be one of the coolest G-Shocks i've worn. I've bought several of the GA/GD series, so the module is known to me by now, but the subtle details of this watch are really nice. The red EL is really striking, unique among the rest of my collection. the black hinge/clasp on the band is a nice touch as well, looks great with the rest of the watch. ive heard others say they wish it was brushed instead of shiny, but it's still a dark black/grey, i think it's fine just like it is. The Red Eye really makes the face pop, looks great with the negative display. display contrast is nice, no problems reading it, although it does this funny thing while taking pictures where the digits look like they're blinking very fast.

anyway, on to the pictures! (i know we've seen this one a million times, but hey it's a nice model, so i doubt anyone will complain about more pics):

Certainly the coolest looking of the whole GD-bunch. Still on my wish-list - just because of the green color and red backlight. Have fun with it. The pics are pretty good for a cell.

Agree with Sedi. I am also eyeing this one. The red backlight looks great and reminds me of the trip computer in my car

That thing is SICK! Looks like a Soviet tank dashboard or something, I love it! I especially like the band design with the "rivets" and the double buckle. Really nice watch!

Looks like you're catching up to me!

And I agree, the red illumination of the 3 is different from the 1. The look is much crisper.

When I noticed the hyper-flashing digits, I thought it might be a defect, but a very small one. Because you mentioned it, now I believe it's just a visual trick on our eyes and the watch is fine.

    Nice photos.
    I'm an idiot. Trust me.

the green they chose for this one is a bit hard to get a hold on; in dim light it almost looks forest green, normal house lighting makes it seem kind of a gray-green, and then in full sunlight it seems OD green like they use on handguns.

The flashing digits are normal. It's in the nature of the LCD. Normally only visible under strong light.

The LCD works with an alternating current - hence the flickering.
