<$500 like the Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave?

Hi everyone, new guy to the forums here. Apologies if this has been asked, I did try to search first.

When I first saw an article about the limited edition Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave (aka 'Appleseed XIII'), I absolutely fell in love with it and set on a course to try to get on whatever waiting-list or pre-order I could find.

After some digging and finding out there's only going to be 990 of these made worldwide and the MSRP being $3,800(US), my hopes and dreams were quickly squashed (that's way out of my spending ability).

So I would ask for help in finding something acceptably comparable. What appeals to me with the Satellite Wave and what I'd hope to find in another watch are:

    - Oversized (>48mm)
    - Black with illuma-green accents
    - Atomic sync, analog dials
    - Solar-powered
    - the 3D tiered/layered configuration of the dials
    - <$500 pricetag

    Thank you!

wow 3,800 for a citizen sounds pretty steep

Probably hand made with decorated movement. That's what $3,800 USD buys you these days.

It does seem like quite a sight to behold. There's a YouTube video about the watch. I think it is made with some pretty nice materials, and the satellite tech is pretty cool. Not sure I'd pay 3,800 for it. Have you looked at Casio Edifice watches? They are somewhat similar, and have some of the features you're looking for.

Sure - check this out. The first 2 minutes show the tie-in to the movie, but if you just want to see the watch features, skip ahead to about the 2:20 mark. Cool music too.

Well, so far in my searching for a suitable equivalent, I've found the Casio Edifice EQW-M1100DC-1A2

It's got the Solar/Atomic combo, Black with some illuma-green and some level of "3D" layered dials. Still doesn't have that "oomph" like the Appleseed XIII, but it does look good.

That is probably one of the closest things I've seen to the Satellite Wave. We actually carry the Edifice (& that model in particular). It's not really the size you're looking for, but still a very nice piece. The price tag is right where you want to be as well.

We'll be getting the Satellite Wave as well, probably in the next 2-4 weeks. I'll be putting up a post when I get the 1st shipment.

Here's a wrist shot of the Edifice for you...

Thanks for taking the time to discuss these watches with me Joe, much appreciated.

While I was digging further into the available Edifice models, I hit on what I so far like the best (if I can't have the Wave, that is): The Casio Edifice EQW-A1000B-1AJF
