    [Question] "Unworn" Chopard

Hi all. I recently purchased my first luxury watch, a Chopard Mille Miglia GMT chronograph with a stainless steel bracelet, from a seemingly reputable grey-market retailer. The watch was described as being in "unworn" condition. However, upon inspection the bracelet looks to have been refinished. I can see waviness on the brushed outer links, and as I understand it, the machine finish from the factory should have a uniformly straight "grain." Is this the case? Do you think I received a used watch? Thanks in advance.

Thanks! Yeah, I know it's tough to chime in without a visual aid. I'll try to get some pics up. I caught the watch bug, and the Mille Miglia's really spoke to me.

A refinished bracelet should have a linear grain also since it would be done on a polishing wheel. In fact, I’m not sure how (or why) one would produce a wavy finish. Pictures are a must.

Have you contacted the seller about your concerns?

Is it this type of watch and bracelet?

Typically, the first signs of wear are small scratches on the bracelet near the clasp. Since the links on this particular bracelet are elevated in the middle, I would however expect the scratches in the middle, too, not on the brushed outer links.. But as the others said, it's hard to say anything without pictures.

Apparently I can't share links or images because I just joined the forum and my post count is too low.

You might be able to post pictures to a hosting site and post a link to that site.

Tried it. The link gets flagged, and the post is blocked. Will give it another shot. Maybe I've posted enough now?

    Re: [Question] "Unworn" Chopard

I believe you need 100 posts before you can upload images, and "speed" posting is not permitted--so, if you are unhappy with your purchase, best to simply contact the seller.

Bracelets are rarely "refinished"--are you actually looking for a way out of this purchase, a kind of discrete form of buyer's remorse?

In any case, slight variances on the bracelet are usually not much to worry about, and are rarely a reason to return the watch for a replacement or a refund. If you bought it to actually wear it, then those waves, swirlies or whatever will not likely be noticeable nor a reason for any concern. Often times gray market watches are former display models which may have had some wear as a result, while still not technically having been worn (as in purchased and used). If it is a big concern of yours, then we aren't the folks you should be talking to, but the seller.
