Is it just me noticing that this seems to be the favorite time to take photos of watch dial especially for a commercial / advertising photos?

Nope, not at all. It is the preferred position for taking watch shots.

I wondered about that too. Haven't gotten a cogent answer yet. Just behind "How do you tell the time on a one handed watch".
The imponderable question of the ages
Back in tha day, watch adverts showed watces at 10:20. I wondered about that too.
Research led me to the reason. Assassinated Prez A Lincoln died at precisely 10:20 PM.
Why would watch companies associate their watches with a Presidents death. Its a wacky world fellow WISs

its a given-many plausible reasons-the hands tend to frame any brand and logos [ generally they are 'up top' ] also does not obscure any info on the lower dial -tends not to obscure sub dials -also downward facing hands are literally a 'downer ' and of course tends to more symmetrical and balanced - one members association with it as the time of Abe Lincoln's assassination is' fascinating'

Design wise its the logical choice because it makes the dial look very balanced.

It's a somewhat balanced position for the hands. If the photographer had paid little more attention to detail the seconds hand would have been aligned as well.

You are not the first asking.......10:10 is a recurring issue. You might do a search.
The question why Lange watches always show the 25th has been answered too btw. - "Four years after the re-establishment of A. Lange & Söhne in 1990, we presented our first watch collection to the public on October 24th, 1994: the LANGE 1, the ARKADE, the SAXONIA and the LANGE TOURBILLON. All outsize dates of the watches were set to the 25th as we hoped for attending journalists to quickly write about the event and publish their articles the day after – including photos showing the watches with the date of that day."

AMF already linkt to a thread, here's another one: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f109/wa...st4652721.html
