    15 Year Old Watch Enthusiast

    Hello,

I`ve really just gotten into watches as I have started wearing my first wathc the Swatch "Burning Eye"
My grandfather has also recently given me his old Tissot. Not exactly sure what model it is, hoping you guys could tell me that :)

Just want to learn more about watches and how they function and what now.

The Tissot (It currently does not have a strap)

Interesting looking Tissot...could be a rare model, might be worth something. Not saying you should sell, mind. Sorry don't have a clue on model.

Looks like a vintage 1980s era Tissot digital analogue, a quick google search values it at around $300 should you sell it. Wait till you get your first REAL watch (i.e. mechanical), the experience will ellipse anything you've ever had.

    Welcome to the forum,
we are not big on quartz watches here but there are many about as for the Tissot at your age i would keep it don't let the battery die keep it working wear it now and again the price of these will always go up as they get scarcer.

Thanks for the tip. I currently only have quartz watches as they are fairly cheap and money is quite hard to come by at my age ahah. Will definitely want to pickup a mechanical watch in the near future

    Welcome!

Mechanical watches are no more real than quartz but lots here (myself included) do prefer them. Plenty of very good affordable ones out there from Seiko, Orient etc.

May seem like a dumb question but are all seiko watches made in Japan? Or are the cheaper ones made somewhere else ?
