2015 edition: can you have or covet more than 1 grail watch?

I have 1 grail watch. I own it. I am thankful.

But I have been collecting watches too long to know I am satiated. I knew I bought My grail watch because I went over 6 months before thinking about another watch. With a non-grail that urge usually hits minutes after receipt of "the next watch" or sometimes when it is still in shipment.

Can anyone have more than 1 grail watch? Can you get that grail urge for more than one watch? I'm currently on a new watch hunt but it does not feel like my grail hunt.

Of course you can have more than one!

I have two grails - the Rolex GMT BLNR and the A Lange & Sohne Terraluna. The first is a grail because I might actually own it someday, and the second is a grail in the sense that I imagine it is guided by a mystical knight and if I try to take it, the temple will collapse and I'll fall into an abyss as punishment for my obsession.

If and when I buy that GMT, I'm sure I'll set my sights on another one, but I think I'll always have a realistic grail and a fantasy one. One keeps you busy and gives you a goal that will satisfy you, and the other ensures that you will always be humbled and impressed by the poetry and engineering magic of timepieces, and the truly unattainable wonder of time itself.

Maybe we should come up with a new term to differentiate?

Humans have an unlimited capacity to covet.

True. Maybe that's why God made a rule against it. Everything in moderation.

Grails are a bit like waves. You no sooner attain it than another comes along.

The entire "grail" bit is overused to the point of being meaningless and trite in my opinion. It's just a watch. I think what people mean is they hope to one day be able to afford their favorite watch, which is a moving target for many, so yes you can have several favorites.

Agree it is a worthless term it seems. If it's the grail and you obtained it and now looking for more, it wasn't much of a grail IMO.

It's my grail but will only 1, maybe 2 days of wear time to accommodate my other watches.

I see the grail as the kind of watch from Pulp Fiction.
