It's a random question. I have a friend that is starting a 3d scanning company. He has purchased several scanners, some portable the others stationary. I'm curious to know if watchmakers would find these services applicable? I'm not trying to sell services here and I have no stake in the company. Just a thought that popped into my head.

For those that don't know what 3d scanning is, it's exactly as it sounds. A part can be scanned to within microns margin of error. The scanning creates a cad file which can be taken to a machinist or 3d printer to make a part.
