42mm Breitling Steelfish vs. 39mm Chopard Mille Miglia chrono...

There you have it. Same price, both used, similar condition and with papers. I've been dying for both but will only be able to pick one.

    From what I can tell:

Breitling: WR rating, bracelet, very liquid if I need to get rid of it. Minus: no chrono, arguably a "lesser" more common brand, ETA movement

Chopard: Chronograph, in-house movement (i think?), more subtle, a higher "tier" brand. Minus: not crazy about the rubber band, WR rating

    Thoughts? I just can't decide.

I know they are very different. These are just the final two I have stumbled upon that really caught my eye.

Watchbreath, do you know if the movement in the Chopard was made in-house?

    Thanks again.

I'd go with the Breitling of these two. The Chopard is nice, but I fear it would be hard to read and appear too busy on such a small dial.

How did it get so late so soon?

Out of this two I would go for the Chopard hands down. I have seen it in person and it wears really well, not very thick for an auto chrono, I think its got a 7750 inside. The rubber strap goes really well with the mille miglia watches imo, however it should be very easy to change the strap on that watch.

Both of them have ETA movements. I would choose the Breitling for greater versatility, lower servicing costs and robustness.

    +1

I'd prefer a 7750 to a 2894 anyday, one is an integrated chrono movement while the other is modular. Integrated chrono movements are far better from an ownership/service perspective. And, a three/two-hand movement will be less expensive to service than a chrono (and manual less than automatic).
