    This or that

    Waddup guys!

    As most of you know, I've just gotten my Sinn a month ago.
    I'm already contemplating on my next purchase.. so as usual, I'd like for some opinions.
    I probably won't be moving on this purchase too soon but you guys should understand, I'm scratching the itch.

    I'm looking to get a GMT that allows me to transcend between both casual and the occasional dress situations, so here goes!

    Rolex Explorer II 16570 (Black Dial)

    Name:  6291271356_ce2dc0f57d_z.jpg
Views: 1758
Size:  143.8 KB

    Grand Seiko GMT SBGM025 (White Dial)

    Name:  sbgm025_b.jpg
Views: 4319
Size:  94.6 KB

    P/S: Whichever I get, I'll be putting it on a leather strap.. so we can safely ignore any bracelet superiority either watches possess over the other.

    Cheers

    ROLEX Pepsi GMT-Master 16700 (Circa 1987);
    ZENITH El Primero 36'000 VPH Tri-Color;
    SEIKO Prospex Solar Tuna SBDN026 (1981/3000)

    Considerations:
    AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak 15450
    A.LANGE & SOHNE Saxonia Thin 37mm

    What about a polar 16570? That would be my choice. Of the above, the black version.

    Seiko. No cyclops. Much less common. No stigma/social baggage.

    Nice shot of the Rolex, GS not as flattering. Based on those photos I choose the Explorer.

    Re: This or that

    Between A Rolex and A Seiko I would pick the Seiko, but in this particular case I would go with the Rolex. That older Explorer II is a real looker.

    Re: This or that

    Another write-in for the polar white 16570. Barring that, the black one.

    I like Grand Seiko quite a bit, but that particular model makes it very hard to defend the line whenever someone accuses their designs of being derivative or even homages...

    Re: This or that

    Voted for GS, b/c I think it's a better watch. But the Rx is a fine watch, too. A lot of people will tell you that the Rx will either

    1) get noticed more b/c it's better known and many people think it is the best and most prestigious watch brand, or

    2) make people think you're a poser or (worse) wearing a fake.

    Or - just say to hell with it and get the one that calls to you. I like to look at things and then leave. The one I can't get out of my mind is the ONE. And it is not always the one I predicted.

    I expected calls for the polar, actually.
    But somehow, the black coating on the hands and indices bug me because it makes the watch feel a bit "plastic" IMO.
