    The accuracy of a quartz

What kind of accuracy can I expect to get out of a Swiss Made quartz? I just purchased a Victorinox Swiss Army Original 24221, and before joining this site I had never given much thought to accuracy. I've noticed my new watch has gained about 1 second in 4 days. From reading the archives I've noticed it is sometimes the luck of the draw, is +/- 7-8 seconds a month normal or acceptable for a $150 quartz? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mike, Typical being +/-1 second per day makes me feel better. Thanks again.

Re: The accuracy of a quartz

My quartz watches range from 2 secs/month to 25 secs/month.

Accuracy improves(sometimes significantly) the more the watch is warn, because the temperature on the wrist is constant. Accuracy improves with constant temperature.

1 of my watches is 2 secs/month, unworn. That is awesome. Another one I have to wear pretty much 24/7 for it to be 2 secs/month, otherwise it is 7 secs/month.

EDIT: If your watch is 1 sec per 4 days, then it looks like it will be 7-8 secs/month, which is good accuracy.
