    Advantages of Titanium

Can anyone list the advantages of titanium over Stainless Steel besides the weight?
I've read that SS is more scratch resistent than Ti?
And here I was thinking a Ti watch would be amazing I should have paid more attention to my hot chemestry teacher
I've just ordered one in Ti. At least its only the case and not the bracelet.

Besides this what kind of cares do you have regarding your watches SS bracelets and how do you clean them?

The only two advantages I can think of are: 1. Titanium is hypoallergenic compared to stainless steel and may offer some relief to those with a nickel allergy if the back is titanium. 2. If you like tbe way the.titanium is finished then that's an advantage.

I tried a Seiko made of titanium and could not get used to the feel.

I believe titanium is also technically harder, stronger and more resistant to corrosion than stainless steel. However, SS is more 'scratch resistant' because of the oxide layer on titanium that is usually duller in color than the actual metal, and more easily scratched. That makes scratches more noticeable and makes SS seem more scratch resistant.

More corrosion resistant than stainless steel. This may be especially useful on divers where 316L is not resistant to salt water corrosion which may lead to pitting over time.

So nothing to be afraid. The watch I ordered is a Pilot and comes with a strap.

And regarding the cleaning of ss bracelets. Which products do you usually use?

I thought you were looking for the advantages of titanium over stainless steel. Not the disadvantages.

Same. Soap and soft bristled toothbrush is what I use. If you're willing to spend some money though, you could get an ultrasonic cleaner. I believe cheap ones are $30 to $50.

The big advantage is weight. Ti is just as strong as steel, sometimes more, but weights about 40% less.

Ti is also fully resistant to salt water. SS needs to be washed after exposure or it can corrode.
