Advise on what to by: Omega vs. Breitling vs Tudor vs IWC

    Hi all,

I'm a law student soon to graduate and start articling at my top choice law firm. As a gift for graduating law school and everything else, my family has generously offered to buy me a watch as a present. I am a horology-fiend and have fallen in love with watches over the last year or so. I do have a decent knowledge base but am in no ways an expert, so I'm reaching out to the community for help!!!

I would love your opinion with respect to what watch to get! I've narrowed it down to the following:
    -Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch
    -Breitling Superocean Heritage II 42
-IWC "Le Petit Prince" Pilot Watch Chronograph
    -Tudor Pelagos

I am open to other suggestions but would mainly love feedback, please, on the watches above. I love each watch in terms of how they look. I know the history and basic information of each watch. Each has their own appeal. In particular I love the history of the Speedmaster and aware of the commonly held belief that every man should own a manually winding speedmaster at some point. I find the Breitling fascinating because it is the first set of watches made since Tudor and Breitling came to an agreement to use each other's movements. So if I buy the superocean, it will be the first time it's released with a Tudor movement and wonder if that will have become a collectible item down the line.

Please help with this "tough" decision. Thanks so much.

Thanks Baka. Appreciate you getting the forum started, it was my first post. Can I ask why you voted for the speedy pro?

Pelagos gets mine. I don't find stainless steel watches with bracelets wearable after owning my pelagos. It's disgustingly comfortable.

Will only buy titanium or ceramic going forward.

Man those are tough choices. The Pelagos may be the best all round bet. Notice all these watches are 42mm + assuming you like larger watches?

Interesting. Two votes for the Pelagos. It is a great watch and I've heard amazing things about the strap--which Zama is confirming. The only concern I have with Tudor--and I acknowledge I may be completely ignorant and wrong on this so please correct me if so and please take no offense--is that it's essentially for people who can't afford Rolex. Am I off on this? Whereas Breitling and Omega as manufacturers are on par with Rolex itself (though some would say no to Omega being on that level post Swatch buying them, but I would disagree). Not that I'm measuring watches I buy by were they stand with respect to Rolex, but I bring it up since Tudor is Rolex's "affordable" brand.

Also yes, I do like larger watches (I'm 6'3, 225) but nothing larger than 44.

Also, Lo_Scrivano, since you have the Speedmaster and a Transocean, why the vote for the Palagos?

I'd say save for a Patek.

It's rare that I'd choose an IWC, but out of those 4...that's my pick. I just love the blue dial, and at 43mm it's not overly large for a pilot style watch.
I do like the Breitling too, it looks great on the mesh bracelet.
