    It's literally true.
Panerai, IWC, JLC, A.Lange&Söhne etc. are brands under the Richemont group/company.
And Richemont just partnered with Alibaba to sell watches from their portfolio specially to chinese customers. (src: https://www.ablogtowatch.com/richemo...ese-consumers/ )

Therefore, Richemont-brand watches are, from now on, basically Alibaba specials.

I bet current iwc/panerai/jlc owners will be thrilled to learn of this

Don’t know if that’s good or bad...does it mean prices will go down? If I saw a Lange at Costco and it was a good deal, I would snap it up. It’s still a beautiful watch, assuming quality would not suffer. What do you guys think?

Didn't look like that at all. It's not going through that channel; the Alibaba corporate umbrella also covers some higher-end online retail. That's where it's going.

And doing business in China is probably Not Simple for a foreign company...especially trying to do business online, I suspect, given how tightly the Chinese government tries to control the net in China.
