    Amazing PP Auction

It would be a real pleasure to get this one of a kind historical watch but it's out of my price range. Hope you all like it!

Curious... if scholars and professional WIS were "sure" that this model was never made in pink gold, then it seems like those "pros" didn't do a very a good job at research. The info was there in PP's archives since they were able to verify its authenticity. Another pink gold example could turn up and the buyer might not have a one-of-a-kind. Who's to say the scholars couldn't have missed more pink gold 3448s.

Lol, well, I guess I'm fortunate that the vast majority of my favorite watches are within 10k.

The auctioneer really must fire his tailor...

No criticism of the individual in the video. But, to rely on an auction house for either research or value, is a mistake. Auction houses make plenty of mistakes, I've seen them pull paintings and cars just hours before auction time because provenance or authenticity was questioned. Artwork and rare coins can be particularly tricky.

Prior poster who questioned the research was absolutely correct. If you buy the watch, there's all kinds of releases which would prevent you from pursuing Christie's if there's a "mistake." The auction houses don't care, they just want the sale and their cut. Oh they may protest and claim their reputation is at stake, but you can bet your bottom euro/sterling/dollar, it's the money that matters.

It helps if you're Viktor Vekselberg. Then again, someone buying a PP for a few mils probably is of that caliber.

After this, I wonder, where can I find out a vintage Patek's aprox current price?
The one I talk about is the best looking PP I have seen. Looks nothing like current offering.
