Angular Momentum - introducing new collection

Angular Momentum - introducing new collection

    Dear Partners in the World.

It is our pleasure to introduce to you a new and exiting individual time piece collection.

Reverse painting on glass - the African Wildlife Collection

Angular Momentum‘s has developed a technology of reverse painting on glass to bring beautiful
images on the backside of sapphire crystals based on color drawings created by Angular Momentum‘s artists or
adapted from well known paintings from the 19th century.

(Time pieces with reverse painted glass can be custom made on demand with any image acquired)

    Model description:
    African Wildlife Collection
Two-Body circular stainless steel case with down turned lugs,
    screwed back, screw-locked crown.
3 mm single curved sapphire crystal,
    decorated mechanical hand winding movement.
    Hand painted

    Sincerely yours

    Martin Pauli (President)

It seems that the design team is wacked out like Nomos awhile back.
They have lost their way; bad booze I guess. Bring back the RETRO!!

    Hi all,

Read your replies and opinions and understand what you are saying. Makes me want to throw in mine.

These are not watches for the big public for sure. AM is a brand that produces all kinds of watches from sports watches, dive watches to classic watches and art watches. In my opinion their art collection is quite unique, despite if you or I like it or not. Martin Pauli, the owner is a passionate man, crazy about fine art and watches and I must say it is and has always been a pleasure meeting him in Basel and sit down and have a talk.

No doubt there is a market for the Africa collection, all hand painted. Martin is doing individual paintings for customers on demand.

The specs of the Africa collection are: decorated ETA 6498 hand winding movement. The image is painted on the reverse side of the crystal, the watch case design bases on the AXIS watch cases. The price is US$ 4’500.00 or € 3’800.00.

It's worthwhile to take a look at the entire collection and see and understand they are more than the traditional type of watch company: http://www.angularmomentum.com/

    I like it

Call me crazy, but I like this concept.

I'm not sure how often I would wear such a watch, and I will never be able to afford it, but this has to be just about the most elegant painted-dial style that I have ever seen. The single-disk wandering hour has a simplicity that can't be matched by jump-hour or any other system, while delivering enough time-telling precision for a dress-watch. And putting the painting on the dial beneath the hands would be somewhat clumsy by comparison (e.g. AM's own 'flowers' collection)

The paintings themselves seem to be well proportioned for the dimensions of a watch dial.

Also, from what I have seen of hand-painting on watches, the quality would be far more evident in person than in the catalogue pictures offered here.

(and I like the camel picture because it reminds me of Old Joe :-D )

    Aloha,

I hear you Ernie. It's clear to me that Martin really loves unique, individual timepieces. For that, a big thumbs up

But for me personally, no. However I do enjoy seeing the unique watches he comes up with, and the way he thumbs his nose at convention. The Swiss watch industry needs more of that.

    Cheers,
    John
