    Another day, another watch manufacturer

It seems that every few weeks I stumble across yet another watch manufacturer.

    Today I found: https://www.nitewatches.com/store/au/

I'd never heard of them before today. Someone out there must be chewing up watches as there are so many watch makers and sellers it's like we are supplying the whole universe.

    Who's buying all this stuff?

This one looks not bad I think, it seems they use tritium tubes and the auto use sellita sw 200 movement.

Have you been into the affordable watch sub-forum and the dive watch sub forum. Those guys are serious volume buyers.

Looks like these guys are doing quite well. I've seen the term 'mushroom brand'...they pop up right after the rains, then disappear just as quickly. A lot of what you see on, say, Kickstarter, will fit that description. Just because you see them this year, doesn't mean they'll be around in 2018. But these guys apparently scored a military contract in 2005 (see their web site, Our Story tab) and that meant their startup operational costs were covered, and then some (I'd expect). Some nice looking pieces. Overall, looks like they're one of the exceptions...a solid success.

But also, they're online only. Maybe they're satisified with modest, consistent growth...that's often the best strategy anyway. So yeah, it's not hard to overlook such a company.

    Gangrel

A military contract would be like a gift from the gods. Imagine the number of pieces they'd buy?

I like them but they seem a little pricy for an unknown online brand. They bring tritium to the table but there's brands like Alpina, Archimede, Marathon and Laco at a similar price level and lots of other micro brands offering unique and well thought out designs. Having Swiss made Sellita movements mean nothing since the Miyota 9015 has proven itself to be just as good. Pity they only offer only 1 model in automatic, they ought to offer the whole range in automatic but use Miyota movements to help bring the prices down.
