    Another First Poster seeking suggestions

    Hi All,

I am looking for my first "serious" watch (although I need to keep to a 3 figure budget - preferably <500)

I want something classic looking with a black face leather strap.

I have skinny wrists and so want something below 40mm (36mm ish?)

I quite like a slight dome to the glass. Simple face - don't even need a date

I am a bit useless and so would forget to wind and/or take off for shower/bath - so I guess automatic and water resistant

I have looked at some vintage (1950s) Omega Seamasters but I am guessing they are not water resistant (plus I don't know enough not to be ripped off?)

I very nearly bought a Orient Bambino - but thankfully checked the size before buying.- too big for me. Shame because I liked the photos.

Not precious owning a famous brands or being particularly authentic.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Simon

It might be pushing your size restriction a bit at 42mm but I think it checks all the other boxes:

Edit: As always I seem to miss small details like budget. Might be worth saving for though? Not sure. Whatever you find, be sure to report back and let us know

Keep looking at Orient + Seiko

I purchased a classic looking Orient at -110€ it's my everyday go to. Automatic black faced, black case.

41mm but doesn't wear too big IMO, I have a 42mm from kemmner and I find it wears much bigger !

Seiko SARB watches. SARB033 is one example:

    SeiyaJapan | Grand Seiko | G-Shock | Seiko Spirit | Prospex | Marinemaster | Citizen | SEIKO Mechanical Automatic Watch SARB033

If you're going to be forgetful and wear it in the shower, then stay away from leather, go for steel.

Others are SARB021, SARB029 (which is on leather). Search the forums there have been a lot of discussions on the SARBs.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for this - That SARB029 is spot on! Exactly what I'd like.

Can't seem to see one on sale anywhere. Not now or even recently - do I have any chance or should I look for a compromise?
