Anybody purchase directly from Steinhart to US?

I was just about to pull the trigger on a Steinhart OVM I have been wanting from Gnomon. I mistakenly thought they were the US AD since they are the only retailer I have ever seen selling Steinhart.
When I realized I was ordering internationally anyway I checked Steinhart and found them to be almost 100USD cheaper.
I have never ordered from overseas except China (who I know undervalue the packages) so what other taxes or import fees will I pay? Is it more from EU than Indonesia, is that why the pricing difference? Just wanted to figure my real cost before ordering . Thanks for any info!

The first $800 is now free of duty, and the next $1000 is assessed at a flat rate of 3%. But, FedEx will still likely charge you a customs clearance fee, which is about $10-$20.

Gnomon ships via EMS, which never in my experience has an issue with US Customs. And if in stock, Gnomon ships fast.

Steinhart ships slower and FedEx likes to charge a fee of $18 for being your customs broker, the invoice arriving about 2 weeks after the watch delivery.

I just bought a Steinhart from Gnomon, who I thought was US based but shipment was from Singapore. From time of order, watch arrived in 3 days. No extra charge for shipping or customs.

I have purchased watches from Gnomon on two separate occasions and in both cases the shipping to the east coast was pretty quick, and there were no issues with import duties.

Not sure why someone would purchase from Gnomon if buying from Steinhart is cheaper, even after customs

I’ve purchased the same watch from both. Returned to Steinhart and repurchased through Gnomon. The latter was worth the extra $$$. Steinhart didn’t even bother to wrap the box in anything protective.

I've bought from bot. Gnomon a bit quicker but no problems or fees fron Steinhart. Only a couple days difference.

Gnomon is always $100 more for whatever reason. Just order straight from Steinhart if they have what you want in stock.

"Affordable" just means you end up spending the same amount of money, but end up with a greater number of watches. -MandoBear
